What this tool actually checks
I built this to answer one question: when someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google AI Overviews about your industry, is your site something those systems can even work with? It scores four things. AI crawl access looks at whether your robots.txt lets the AI crawlers in and whether you have an llms.txt file. Machine-readable identity checks your structured data, because AI systems trust markup they can parse far more than prose they have to guess at. Entity presence checks whether your brand exists as a recognised entity on Wikipedia and Wikidata. Answerability checks whether your page is written in a way that maps to real questions.
Why AI visibility is different from ranking
Ranking on Google and being cited by an AI system are not the same job. A page can sit at position one and still never appear in an AI Overview, because the AI could not verify who you are or could not extract a clean answer from your content. AI systems cross-check identity across sources before they trust a brand enough to name it. If your site says one thing and no third party confirms it, you get read but not cited. That gap is exactly what this checker is looking for.
What to do with your score
Treat the score as a starting map, not a verdict. The crawl and identity sections are usually the quickest wins, because they are technical and fully in your control. Entity presence takes longer and often needs press, directories and reviews rather than a code change.
