eSIMs for Travel, the travel eSIM store Tom Riley built and launched in July 2026, made its first real sale on 28 July 2026: a 5GB, 30 day Morocco travel eSIM, paid for at 9:56 in the morning and delivered automatically two minutes later, with zero human involvement. This post covers the sale, the fully automated delivery, and the plan to ramp up traffic from here.
It does not matter how small it is. The first sale always feels the best.
The sale
On the morning of 28 July 2026, at 9:56, someone I have never met and never spoken to bought a 5GB, 30 day data plan for Morocco from eSIMs for Travel. A real traveller with a real trip. He found the site, picked his destination, paid, and got on with his day.
Two minutes later, at 9:58, his eSIM landed in his inbox with the QR code ready to scan. Provisioned with the supplier, synced, branded email sent. I did nothing. I was not even at my desk. The whole thing ran itself, which is exactly how I designed it: completely hands off, from checkout to delivery.
And here is the bit that tells you the product actually works: he came back and bought a second plan. No support ticket, no confused email, no refund request. Bought, delivered, bought again. That is the kind of satisfaction signal you cannot fake.
Why I am selling at cost price
Right now the store sells at cost price. On purpose. I am not trying to make margin yet. I want real orders flowing through the system, real delivery emails landing, real people activating real eSIMs in real countries. Positive engagement, traffic and sales signals first, margins later. Once the machine is proven and the trust signals are compounding, prices go up.
What comes next
The plan from here is the same playbook I run for clients: foundation building and entity stacking. Clean technical foundations, destination pages that answer real commercial queries, guides that build topical authority, and the off-site entity signals that make Google and the AI engines trust a new brand enough to rank it and recommend it. The site is new, the niche is competitive, and that is exactly the kind of fight I enjoy.
One sale. A few pounds. Completely hands off. It feels better than some five figure invoices I have sent.
